Set Email in Apple Mail

This guide was written for Apple Mail 2.1.

Step 1:

Open Mail. If you have never created an email account in Mail before, proceed to Step 2. Otherwise, go to the “File” menu and choose “Add Account…”

Step 2:

The “New Account” dialog box appears. Click “Continue” to proceed.

Step 3:

The “General Information” pane appears.

  • From the “Account Type” selection menu, choose “POP”.
  • Enter a descriptive name by which you can identify this account, in the event that you later add additional accounts. Sage recommends that you create an account name that contains both your name and a description of the email account’s purpose. Examples: “David – Personal”, “Janice – Sales Inquires” or “Nick – Fan Mail”
  • In “Full Name”, enter your name as you would like it to appear in the “From” line of your outgoing messages.
  • Lastly, enter your email address.

Click “Continue” to proceed.

Step 4:

The “Incoming Mail Server” pane appears.

  • Enter your “Incoming Mail Server:” as “webmail.sageinternet.com”, without the quotation marks.
  • Your “User Name” is your full email address. You must enter your full email address or you will be unable to receive mail.
  • Enter your email account’s “Password” as provided by Sage in your Hosting Account email, or as configured by the person who set up your email account.

Click “Continue” to proceed.

Step 5:

The “Outgoing Mail Server” pane appears.

  • Enter your “Outgoing Mail Server” as “sendmail.sageinternet.com”, without the quotation marks.
  • Put a check in the “Use Authentication” box. Then enter your “User Name” and “Password” exactly as you did in Step 4.

Click “Continue” to proceed.

Step 6:

The “Account Summary” pane appears.

Verify that the information displayed is correct. If you see any typos or mistakes, click the “Go Back” button to return to the appropriate pane.

If the information is correct, click “Continue” to proceed.

Step 7:

The “Conclusion” pane appears.

  • The “Import Mailboxes” button will begin a procedure that allows you to import any messages you have all ready received elsewhere on your computer. This process is not supported by Sage.
  • The “Create Another Account” button returns you to Step 2, where you can set up an additional email account.

Click on the “Done” button to complete the setup of your Sage email account in Apple Mail.
